Overview

The QA Engineer is responsible for following the established QA processes and standards to ensure the software works as intended for users with the fewest defects possible. He is responsible for completing all required training and ensuring he knows when and how to apply all processes. He must know the application and the logistics processes that the application handles and automates to ensure that the highest quality of testing is performed. He needs to understand and have in-depth knowledge of the all the various software and tools used by the department and ensure they are working as needed. He also serves as eyes and ears for management and must bring up any potential issue he is aware of.

 

Responsibilities

  • Have in-depth knowledge of the application and any new features or changes to the application.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the logistics processes that the application automates and manages.
  • Follow all QA processes and standards.
  • Ensure you understand all systems and tools used by the QA team are ensure are working properly.
  • Stay up to date on industry QA best practices, tools and technology used.
  • Understand the various features, workflows and processes built in the application.
  • Understand the various workflows our customers use in the application.
  • Understand the infrastructure our application has and how the backend works for the application.
  • Maintain the management team up to date on the department’s health.
  • Collaborate with other team members and help other team members with questions or issues.
  • Know how to perform quality testing for tickets and regression testing.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the people, processes and systems in QA.

Qualifications

  • Manage given QA tasks according to processes and standards in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in grooming session to ensure you understand the features to be able to write good test cases that cover as many positive, negative and edge case scenarios.
  • Write appropriate test cases for tickets and automation and ensure productivity is up to the tickets and work done meets the required standards.
  • Execute the QA testing process of features for tickets assigned and keep tickets moving through the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) process to ensure tickets make the intended releases.
  • Attend and participate in all required grooming, planning, training sessions and other meetings.
  • Perform tasks to meet KPIs, metrics and deadlines as they relate to QA.
  • Communicate with manager of any potential issue in the application or department.
  • Communicate any changes or improvements needed in the processes and systems.
  • Complete outstanding training requirements.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by your manager.
