A manufacturing company specializing in industrial mechanical systems is seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with strong proficiency in SolidWorks. The ideal candidate has a background in custom fabrication and is able to jump into active projects without the need for tool training.
This is a remote, contract-based opportunity. The company’s internal team already uses SolidWorks as its primary tool for all mechanical modeling and production drawings.
Use SolidWorks to create 3D models and detailed mechanical assemblies for custom-fabricated systems
Generate shop drawings and production-ready documentation directly from models
Ensure parametric modeling standards are followed for efficient design iteration
Communicate effectively with in-house engineers to clarify requirements and expectations
Manage your own workload independently with a focus on quick-turn execution when needed
SolidWorks: 5+ years of experience using SolidWorks in an industrial or manufacturing context
Ability to work autonomously and deliver high-quality mechanical designs with minimal onboarding
Proficient in preparing manufacturing-ready drawings and assemblies
Strong understanding of fabrication practices, tolerancing, and DFM principles
Experience in the custom equipment, automation, or packaging sectors
Familiarity with AutoCAD (though rarely used in this role)
Willingness to work on short-term, fast-turnaround projects
